Spirited Herons Unlucky in defeat

After going down to a goal in the first minute, the Herons picked themselves up and fought hard to try and get back into the game. Some tenacious tackling and box to box determination from Man of the Match Ben inspired the rest of the team. Neat runs forward from Josh closing down the opposition defenders and making a few breakthroughs on their goal supported by Daisy only to be denied by a resilient opposition Goalkeeper. In the second half the Herons were reduced to 4 due to illness, however, in the spirit of the game Gosport Borough took off a player to even the teams. Some excellent throw-ins and runs with the ball from Louie and strong tackles coupled with deft touches and accurate passing from Daisy helped keep the game even, and before Josh departed, a fantastic clearance kick from GK Oliver, sent Josh hurtling forward looking to level things up only for the opposition goalkeeper to make another good save. In the last 10 minutes, Oliver and Louie swapped positions to try give us some extra height and strength up front and despite strong efforts from everyone, and chances for both teams, the final score remained 1-0 to Gosport Borough Blues. Well done Herons for a much improved performance in this match.
